Ode to my favorite season: SPRING šø
Hey Substack journal, Iām back!
After a long winter and months of darkness, Iām stepping into the new season with an open heart and even wider eyes. Nature is coming back to life in a quiet but beautiful way: tiny bulbs popping up everywhere, trees starting to bloom, birds are making a comeback singing from early morning until dusk, and the sunlight is back hugging our cheeks. And so Iām I, feeling more optimistic, energized and peaceful.
āSpring is here and my old joy blooms in the world.ā āSteve Scafidi
Why is this month so special? Is it just the beauty of nature, or is there something more? Firstly, as I get older, I feel a deeper connection to natureāsomething that sits closer to my heart. Spring is here to remind me that after periods of hibernation and wintering, thereās a quiet kind of rejuvenation. That even after cold, barren stretches, life returns, and a new energy flows through everything. Secondly, I am born in April, so Spring has always felt personal.
Spring feels extra special because of these things too:
The days are getting longer, and thereās more light. (Although this year, I found myself falling in love with the cozy, warm glow of dark morningsāturning on lamps and lighting candles first thing in the morning.)
Spring colors : lime green, white petals, and crystal blue skies.
A color that represents spring to meāmore of a feeling than a shade: soft pink.
A food I love during this season: fresh salads with radishes, green onions, avocado, and cheese.
Favorite home activity right now: decluttering my space and my wardrobe.
The best things to photograph: blooming trees, flowers (especially tulips), and watching the trees outside my bedroom window grow greener each day.
What Iām longing for these days: being in the countryside, stretched out on a comfy chair or bench, listening to birds sing while sipping coffee and reading a good book. Sunshine is definitely a bonus.
The perfect morning scenario: open the windows, turn on the warm lamp and having coffee in bed while flipping through a magazine, followed by a long walk.
Three weekend essentials: a full nightās sleep, a nourishing breakfast (coffee included), and wandering the streets of my city with my Fuji camera, getting blissfully lost.
One word to describe the season: rejuvenation.
My birthday wish this year: to go on a bicycle trip.
A memory I cherish this time of year: my sporty teenage yearsāthose active days helped shape my character.
Perfume of the season: Sakura by Rituals (isnāt that the very definition of spring?).
Current thought: How can I live closer to nature? - spring is quite an influencer.
What Iām looking forward to: the reopening of the terrace season at the end of Aprilāmy little personal oasis.
Good habits that keep me sane: meditation.
What about you? How is this new season influencing you? Looking forward to read your comments.
Until next time,
Anda
